Heartwood Manufacturing Acquired by Mock Woodworking

General News

Heartwood Manufacturing, a second-generation family-owned custom architectural and specialty retail woodworking company based in Batesville, has reached an agreement to combine with Mock Woodworking, an established architectural and specialty retail woodworking company based in Zanesville, Ohio.

Heartwood Manufacturing was owned and operated by the Meyer family since its inception in 1992. The acquisition adds a second custom woodworking facility jointly owned by Dix 1898 Inc. and Doug Mock.

“It was our desire to seek a buyer who has financial resources and our same commitment to quality, making them capable of preserving what we have built while setting us up for growth,” said Dale Meyer, owner of Heartwood Manufacturing. “Joe, my son, will continue on as the general manager of our facility here in Indiana. We believe this is a good fit for us, and we are excited for the future of Heartwood.”

Dix 1898 Inc. Chief Operating Officer Andrew Dix commented, “Heartwood Manufacturing is a well-respected company known for its state-of-the-art equipment, craftsmanship and quality. The two companies have similar strengths, and we see a lot of growth opportunities. The markets we serve in Ohio and Indiana are similar and growing. We are thankful to the Meyer family and excited to build upon their successes.”

The Mock and Heartwood woodworking plants exceed 100,000 square feet of combined manufacturing space. The combined entities employ 72.

Dix 1898 Inc., a fifth-generation family business, is headquartered in Wooster, Ohio. In 2017, it became the majority owner of Mock Woodworking.
