The National Association of Realtors® on Thursday announced the promotion of Jon Waclawski to vice president of political advocacy from his role as senior political compliance counsel and director of legal affairs.

In his new role, Waclawski will lead strategy for all of NAR’s federal, state, and local political programs while continuing to advise on political law and federal and state campaign finance.

“Since Jon joined NAR in 2017, he has played a vital role in our political programming at every level of the association. He knows these programs front and back and has the experience and vision to move them forward,” said Shannon McGahn, NAR’s chief advocacy officer.

Waclawski will oversee the fundraising efforts of one of the country’s largest nonpartisan political action committees and will help lead political education and training for NAR members.

Additionally, he will direct REALTOR® Party activities, programs, grants, and resources to help REALTOR® associations advance public policies, candidates, and communities.

“NAR advocacy reaches well beyond Washington,” said NAR CEO Bob Goldberg. “Our members are on the ground in every town in America protecting and promoting property ownership. Our state and local advocacy programs are transforming communities. Jon has the unique experience to lead our political programming from Washington to Main Street.”

Before joining NAR, Waclawski honed his legal and political skills in diverse, high-level positions, including as in-house general counsel to a 2016 presidential candidate; as a partner in a boutique political law firm; and in various fundraising, operative, and legal roles at both state and national political party committees.

He received his B.A. in government from Hamilton College in New York and his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Waclawski is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the state bar of Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia bar.

The National Association of Realtors® is America’s largest trade association, representing 1.5 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
