The company is recognized for its leadership in sustainable development for a fourth consecutive year

RONA inc., one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers operating and servicing some 425 corporate and affiliated stores, has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for a fourth consecutive year. Now in its 17th year, this national competition is organized by Mediacorp—who also publishes Canada’s Top 100 Employers every year—and celebrates employers who stand out for their remarkable sustainable development initiatives and environmental awareness efforts within their organization.

“Our goal is to let our customers know that we’re doing the right things when it comes to the environment,” says Mélanie Lussier, Senior Director, Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainable Development at RONA inc. She adds: “We’re constantly looking for new opportunities to make our practices and operations greener and more sustainable, and this recognition shows that our efforts are paying off.”

The organizations in the Greenest Employer rankings have been evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Unique initiatives and programs developed to care for the environment;
  • Measurable efforts that contribute to the reduction of the environmental footprint;
  • The participation and degree of involvement of employees in these programs, and whether they possess any unique skills that positively contribute; and
  • The extent to which these initiatives are linked to the employer’s public identity and serve to attract new employees and customers.

Having a greater, greener impact

RONA is continually working to develop and deploy new ways to have a better environmental impact retailer for DIYers and contractors in the construction and home improvement industry. The company stands out thanks to an offering of over 5,000 ECO products available in different categories and in a wide price a range to help customers reduce their environmental impact; a waste management program in its corporate stores; and procurement policies that exceed current regulations.

“In 2024, we plan to launch new initiatives that will reduce the environmental impact of our products, while continuing to consolidate our accomplishments,” says Mélanie Lussier.
