Green Diamond Hires Vice President of Acquisitions

General News

Green Diamond Resource Company President Douglas Reed announced recently that Dr. David Walters will join the company as vice president of acquisitions and business development, to lead Green Diamond’s strategic acquisition program.

Green Diamond, through its subsidiary Green Diamond Management Company and in partnership with Silver Creek Capital Management of Seattle, acquired 140,000 acres of working forest land in late 2018, bringing the total acreage under management to ½ million. Green Diamond and its subsidiary now own and manage 1.8 million acres of working forest land in nine states in the US West and South. “We welcome David’s expertise as we consider additional growth opportunities,” said Douglas Reed, president of Green Diamond Resource Company. Dr. Walters’ role will include assessment of non-timber sources of revenue such as conservation easements, carbon sequestration projects and mitigation banking programs, Reed explained.

Walters holds a Bachelor of Science degree in forest management from Oregon State University, a Master’s degree in forest biometrics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a PhD in forest biometrics from the University of Minnesota. He has worked with a national forestry consulting and brokerage firm and with another forest products company directing acquisition strategies.
