B.L. Ogilvie & Sons is Closing its Doors

General News

Dear Valued Customer,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that Ogilvie’s will be closing its store and lumberyard permanently on Friday April 3rd, 2020.

I am so appreciative of the support from customers like you that have made it possible for Ogilvie’s to exceed the milestone of completing 100 years in business.

A lot has happened since the end of WWl when B.L. started this business by delivering coal with a horse and cart to heat the homes in our community. Now you can adjust your heat with a cell phone from anywhere in the world.

Since that time, Ogilvie’s has been fortunate to be able to adapt to the needs of our community over the many years of challenges and change, and help many generations of Weston and surrounding communities grow and prosper. But as our relevance appears to be dwindling in this new world of retail, and with the added financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, we again find ourselves in a position to pivot.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic hit our shores we had been planning a farewell celebration by having store wide close out specials from leaf rakes to lumber and everything in between at great low prices. Sorry to say, that celebration has been denied due to our community’s need of social distancing. BUT the store wide closeout specials are currently being offered.

We are deemed an essential business by the State, so we will be open regular hours through April 3rd as long as good health prevails within our staff.

Feel free to call in orders for “curb side” pick up, or to schedule a delivery to your residence or jobsite. Our doors are open, and sanitized, if you need to physically pick up supplies as well. The discounts are sizable and everything in the store and lumber yard must go.

It’s been great to grow up in this wonderful town and work alongside relatives and many dedicated employees that truly feel more like extended family. I would also like to extend my sincerest thank you to all of our employees (with a median tenure of 34 years), who have worked unwaveringly to provide customers with the utmost professionalism and expertise.

On behalf of all of us here at B.L. Ogilvie & Sons, I thank you for your many years of loyalty and support. It has been an honor to supply and serve this community as my Great Grand Father had set out to do those 101 years ago.

Many thanks and good health,

Kevin Whittemore
President
