Mr. Triplette was born June 15, 1927 in Wilkes County to Mathie and Vera Triplette. Roy owned and operated his own sawmill and lumber company. He learned to saw at an early age, mostly self taught and continued to work until just recently. Roy never retired because he considered sawing for his locust customers an honor and beloved pastime. He was well known in Wilkes and surrounding counties as a gentle, honest man that sawed some of the best locust lumber around. Roy also was a poultry and beef farmer for many years. If you couldn’t find him at the sawmill, then you would find him in the garden that he planted yearly. His family and friends graciously benefited from his labor of love. Roy was the happiest when he was outdoors working to provide for the family he loved so dearly. This locust saw-miller will be missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters; Nell Blankenship, Coleen Triplette, and Martha Marley, seven brothers; A.D. Triplette, Elmer Triplette, Van Triplette, Carl Triplette “Buster”, Joel Triplette, Walter Gene Triplette, and Lloyd Triplette.
