OmniTRAX Announces New Board Chair

General News

OmniTRAX, one of the fastest growing railroads in North America and an affiliate of The Broe Group, has elected Cameron Scott Board Chair. As businesses across the country quickly move to optimize supply chain efficiency, the benefits from rail are playing a vital role. To accelerate the adoption of rail-based supply chains, OmniTRAX is tapping Scott’s extensive Class 1 rail experience and resources – he most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Union Pacific.

“In my three decades in rail, I know how remarkable OmniTRAX’s velocity of growth truly is,” said Scott. “Coming from Union Pacific, I recognize OmniTRAX’s unique ability to work with Class 1 railroad partners to generate growth using proven methods that resulted in its current position in the marketplace. The company’s deep industrial development capabilities and unparalleled expertise delivering complete rail-based solutions makes OmniTRAX uniquely positioned to grow American communities.”

OmniTRAX’s explosive growth was capped by a record setting 2019 that saw the addition of three new rail properties. Global events present additional opportunities as customers across industries seek optimized supply chain efficiency and manufacturers explore onshoring strategies and increased domestic production. With 23 properties that interface with and service seven Class 1 railroads throughout North America, OmniTRAX delivers essential optimal supply chain connectivity.

“As our customers ramp up for increased demand consumption and new supply chain models, our focus is on growing carload volume to support those expanded needs, as well as investing in our assets and the communities we serve,” said OmniTRAX CEO Kevin Shuba. “Cam’s record of optimizing rail operations and his extensive network of contacts provide the ideal guidance to meet the needs of a changing marketplace.”

Supply chain performance continues to be an OmniTRAX strength. Under Shuba’s leadership, first and last mile service operations have been transformed and OmniTRAX customers are experiencing all-time highs in on-time service while the company continues to post all-time best safety metrics.

“OmniTRAX success lies in its world class team, its dual commitment to service and safety and its unique capability to simplify rail for customers,” said Sean Broe, OmniTRAX board member and second-generation owner. “By further integrating OmniTRAX into the Class 1 network, Cam will help the team expand our reach and deliver rail’s transformative supply chain efficiency to more customers.”

Scott was appointed executive vice president and COO of Union Pacific in 2014 and retired in 2019. In that role, he was responsible for train operations throughout 23 western states, including management and maintenance of locomotives, rail cars, tracks, train dispatching and crew calling. He was previously vice president – network planning and operations, responsible for directing the railroad’s service design, transportation planning, and network development to meet customer needs. Prior to his appointment to NPO, he held the position of regional vice president – western region.

A graduate of Arizona State University with a BA in business management, Scott earned his MBA from the University of Texas. He also completed the Executive Management Program at Stanford University.
