Obituary: Duane C. Goodrich

Duane C. Goodrich, 59, of Hinsdale, MA passed away unexpectedly of heart failure Saturday, January 8, 2022.

Duane was born to the late Kinsley M. Goodrich and Marjorie (Rudd) Goodrich on April 15, 1962 in Pittsfield, MA.

Beginning in 1980 when he graduated Wahconah Regional High School, Duane was employed as an architectural millwork craftsman at the family business, CM Goodrich & Son, Inc. Upon the retirement of his father, Duane assumed the role of President until the company closed in 2011.

Duane was an avid snowmobiler. He enjoyed camping, trips to Old Orchard Beach, bonfires with friends, the Bruins, and, most importantly, his dogs. Duane loved talking about food and cooking more than actually eating. He was ornery and cantankerous but always willing to help out a friend; or a friend of a friend. Duane was proud that he spoke his mind. He said more inappropriate than appropriate things most days. But, if he liked you, he’d lay down in traffic for you. He will be missed.

He leaves behind his border collie, Brody, his faithful companion; his sisters: Darlene, Dorothy, and Deborah; his step-daughter, Christina Reardon; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, including life-long best-friends, Kerry Sawtelle and Jackie Ferin.

Funeral Notice:

Funeral services for Mr. Duane C. Goodrich will be Friday, January 14, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home in Dalton, 525 Main Street, Dalton MA 01226, with the Rev. William Furey officiating. Burial will follow at Main Street Cemetery in Dalton MA. Calling hours at the funeral home will be prior to the service, from 11 am to 1 pm. Due to the recent rise in Covid cases, to best ensure everybody’s health, all who attend these services will be required to wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers, donations in Duane’s memory can be made directly to the Sonsini Animal Shelter, 875 Crane Avenue, Pittsfield MA 01201.
