Obituary

John Gerald “Jerry” Erickson, longtime owner of Levee Lumber in Hoquiam, died on December 21, 2022, at Harbor Regional Hospital in Aberdeen.  Mr. Erickson was born on June 2, 1937, in Aberdeen, Washington to John and Martha Lucille (Stoker) Erickson.  He was raised in Hoquiam and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1955.

On July 7, 1956, he and Phyllis Sutton were married.  They made their home in Hoquiam.  Jerry loved working in his yard and had received Yard of the Month several times and was on the tour of Master Gardeners.  He loved decorating the outside of the house for Christmas, all at their home on Queets Avenue in Hoquiam.

He loved woodworking, remodeling, fishing, horseshoes, camping and traveling.  H was an avid eagle enthusiast and collected anything having to do with eagles.

Jerry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had held many positions.  He and Phyllis served a two-year mission for their church in Shelton at the church camp building a lodge.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Erickson of the family home; daughters, Karen (Steve) of Aberdeen, Kathryn of Aberdeen, Keri (Al) of Florida; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with another due to be born in April.  He was preceded by a daughter, Kay; grandson, Chris and a brother, Robert.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Coleman Mortuary.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aberdeen.

A private interment was at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Arrangements are pending at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
