Report: R Y Timber, Inc. Closing Livingston Mill Following Fire

According to local news reports, R Y Timber, Inc. (HQ: Townsend, MT), will be closing their Livingston Mill due to a structure fire that broke out on in the morning of February 7, 2023. This is reportedly the second fire at the site in the past six months.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports R Y Timber “was four to five weeks away from starting up a new planer when another fire sparked in the early morning hours on Feb. 7. This time, the flames damaged the mill itself, taking out the roof”. It was expected it would be “another year before work could resume to normal.” Due to “the challenges, R-Y Timber decided to close its Livingston mill, where approximately 70 employees work.”
