NAWLA Leadership Change

General News

Dear NAWLA Members,

We are writing to inform you of an organizational leadership change. Scott Parker, NAWLA’s Executive Director since 2018, will be stepping away from his role, effective this week.

We are extremely appreciative of and grateful for Scott’s contributions to NAWLA over the past five years including all he did to steadily manage the staff team and NAWLA’s programs through the difficult points in time and events in our world and in his. There is no question about Scott’s contributions to NAWLA’s current, strong position. Please join us in extending our thanks to Scott and wishing him well.

There will be no changes to any programs or initiatives. Mark Swets will assume the role of interim executive director overseeing and managing day-to-day work at NAWLA headquarters. The NAWLA Board of Directors will be working with our management partner, Smithbucklin, to launch a search for our next executive director. We plan to begin this process immediately, with the target to have our next executive director identified as we head into our fall programs and events.

This is an amazing time for our industry and for NAWLA. We are proud of NAWLA’s steady growth, especially coming out of the pandemic. We envision opportunities with this leadership change to examine, fine-tune and even reinvigorate our programs and services, and build an organization that can prosper and be there for our members in uncertain times as well as through periods of growth. We are excited about what NAWLA is doing today to serve our members, and are ready to see what new opportunities we can capitalize on to continue to advance and evangelize our industry.

We look forward to seeing many of you in the months ahead.

If you have any questions or would like to share any feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone on the Executive Committee.

Sincerely,

NAWLA Executive Committee
