LMC

Lumber and Building Materials dealers that have been operating for a century or more are a part of history. These centennial LMC dealers have endured multiple wars, economic fluctuations, and technological advances, evolving to stay innovative in the LBM industry. Through the hardship of the Great Depression, LMC was founded in 1935, exemplifying the same strength that defines our Dealers.

For 90 years, LMC has grown to become the leading Forest Products and Building Materials Buying Group in the country. In 2025, we proudly celebrate LMC Dealers who have reached the remarkable milestone of 100 years or more in business. These Dealers have shown resilience and will continue to succeed in the future. The accomplishments of LMC Dealers embodies our mantra: Building Business Together.

The dealers reaching this extraordinary milestone collectively represent over 11,000 years of business experience and include companies that have successfully transitioned through multiple generations.

Paul Ryan, LMC President & CEO, emphasizes, “To achieve a century or more in business represents the excellence of LMC Dealers. These lumber companies embody the values of quality and service that our cooperative was founded upon. LMC is proud to support their enduring success and honor their history.”

The three most longstanding LMC dealers are Hancock Lumber Company located in Casco, ME; Richo Structures situated in Haven, WI; and William B. Morse Lumber Company based in Rochester, NY.

Hancock Lumber has been an esteemed LMC Dealer since 2000. Established in 1848, Hancock Lumber has evolved into a modern enterprise encompassing sawmills, lumberyards, component manufacturing facilities, and kitchen design showrooms. Recognized as the 71st oldest family business in America by Family Business Magazine, Hancock Lumber prioritizes a people-centric culture under the ethos “Everybody Leads,” earning multiple “Best Place to Work in Maine” accolades. Employing over 600 individuals, Hancock Lumber values innovation while enhancing employee experiences and upholding its legacy with a commitment to future growth.

Richo Structures, established in 1848, has been an LMC Dealer since 2006. This seventh-generation family business designs, builds, and delivers roof and floor trusses along with other building components. Richardson Industries began as a lumber mill, later transitioning to furniture manufacturing before evolving into its current structure. Despite economic challenges, the company maintains high-quality standards by sourcing sustainable Canadian lumber, employing approximately 200 individuals across its divisions, and actively engaging in community activities, including founding the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in 2007.

William B. Morse Lumber has been an LMC Dealer since 1954, traces its origins to 1842 in Rochester, New York. Recognized among America’s oldest continuously operating family businesses, Morse expanded strategically from its original canal-side location to multiple yards, eventually acquiring its founder’s former employer in 1899 and establishing Morse Sash and Door by 1911. Now in its fourth generation of family leadership, Morse Lumber has navigated significant industry changes through the stewardship of the Morse family. With over 180 years of operations, Morse maintains its commitment to evolving customer needs while honoring its century-and-a-half heritage of community service.

The success of these centennial dealers serves as a powerful reminder of the LMC’s core strengths: collaboration, resilience, and commitment. We congratulate these Dealers for their remarkable accomplishment and look forward to the next 100 years.
