Simpson Strong-Tie Donates $20,000 to the American Red Cross for Myanmar Earthquake Relief Efforts

Simpson Strong-Tie has donated $20,000 to the American Red Cross, partner of the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS), in support of efforts following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on March 28. The earthquake is reported to have killed at least 3,000 people and counting, injured thousands more, and damaged or destroyed innumerable buildings and vital infrastructure.

As search-and-rescue efforts continue, Myanmar Red Cross volunteers are providing a range of services on the ground, including administering first aid, providing pre-hospital care, distributing emergency relief items such as blankets, tarpaulins, and hygiene kits, and deploying mobile health teams to the most affected communities. The organization’s Restoring Family Links program is also helping to reconnect separated families.

“The loss of life and destruction caused by the Myanmar earthquake are unthinkable, and our hearts are with the people there,” said Simpson Strong-Tie President and CEO Mike Olosky. “We’re grateful for the efforts of the American and Myanmar Red Cross organizations to support victims across the region, and we hope that our donation can help them continue their important work.”
