Donald L. Meyer, of Orchard Park, New York passed away on November 28, 2023.

Beloved husband of 66 years to Doris C. Meyer (nee Maurer); dearest father of Jeffrey (Debbie) Meyer (and late daughter-in-law Karin Meyer), Jill Meyer and Joelle (Mark) Herskind; dearest grandfather of Benjamin (Rebecca) Meyer, Jacob (Heather) Herskind, Jenna (Tyler) Heath, Seth (Kristina) Meyer, Micah Herskind, Luke Meyer, Caleb Herskind and eight great-grandchildren; dear brother of Cheryl (Dennis) Carew and the late Kenneth (late Carol) Meyer; also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

The son of Kenneth and Lorraine Meyer, Don was born and raised in Chicago, IL, with his siblings, Ken and Cheryl. Growing up, Don enjoyed fast cars, baseball and stylish clothes. Don and Doris met at church and began dating in their teens. They attended Wheaton College together, where Don majored in business and played catcher for the Wheaton baseball team. They graduated, married, and moved to Hamburg, NY in 1957, when Don joined Baillie Lumber, then a three-person company.

After purchasing Baillie five years later, Don grew the business into the largest North American hardwood company, while raising three children with Doris, and later enjoying seven grandchildren & eight great-grandchildren. Don was an avid golfer, reader & small aircraft pilot. He loved to gift meaningful books to work & personal friends.

As a follower of Jesus, he passionately practiced and encouraged generosity of time, talents & resources. Don lived a faith-filled life, participating in community and leadership at the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg (Revive Wesleyan), as well as serving on the boards of Wheaton College, Young Life, Generous Giving, EQUIP, Patkai Christian College and Jericho Road Community Health Center.

The family will be present Monday, December 4th from 4-8 PM and Tuesday, December 5th from 3 to 7 PM at the F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, 6575 East Quaker Street, Orchard Park, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Wednesday, December 6th at 11 AM in the Revive Wesleyan Church, 4999 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg, NY. Please assemble at church.
